Worship

During the summer months we offer two Sunday morning worship services, 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. thru the end of June. In July we go to one worship service at 9:30 a.m. thru Labor Day weekend. During the summer we use familiar worship settings. Currently we are using several variations of Setting 10 from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sunday of the month and all festivals.
Worship and music are held to a high standard at St. Michael. Through both we seek to stir and inspire all who participate in the worship life of the congregation. Our worship can be characterized as traditional but with an openness to explore and a willingness to implement new liturgies and music without disrupting the rich heritage of our Lutheran tradition. We currently draw our liturgy and music from a variety of sources, such as the Lutheran Book of Worship, With One Voice, Evangelical Lutheran Worship, as well as the music libraries of GIA Publications, and Oregon Catholic Press.
We are considering the addition of a third worship service sometime in the future. The style and format for this possibility is being studied and discussed by the Pastor and the Worship and Music committee.
