Music at St. Michael Concert Series

In 1999, we launched an exciting new outreach of our congregation’s ministry: an annual series of concerts and recitals to be called Music at St. Michael. Our mission is to use the beautifully glorious acoustics of our new sanctuary and provide an avenue to the arts for our community through the universal language of music. With the gifted talents of both professional and amateur performers, Music at St. Michael, will present five distinctive musical events in our forthcoming 2007-2008 season, and you’re warmly invited to attend any or all of them:

Sunday, October 14 at 3:00 p.m. Danny Quinn, a widely acclaimed folk-singer, guitarist and composer, will entertain us with a program of lilting Irish and American songs. Danny has performed throughout the U.S., Canada, Ireland and England since 1979 and has appeared with renowned artists such as Tommy Makem, John Prine, the Clancy Brothers and the Chieftains.

On Sunday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m. The Brandywine Celtic Harp Orchestra, will present a program of delightful Christmas music. Founded and directed by virtuoso harpist Janet Witman, this unique ensemble consists of fifteen highly trained harpists who produce some of the most enchantingly lovely sounds you’ll ever hear.

On Sunday, January 27 at 3:00 p.m. A Cappella Pops, a chorus of about 40 auditioned and widely experienced male and female singers, will present a program of exciting, voice-only arrangements of contemporary music that mixes the sounds and styles of jazz, folk, Broadway and Gospel.

On Sunday, March 9 at 3:00 p.m. The Bowman-Braddock Duo, consisting of flutist Mindy Bowman and guitarist Chris Braddock, will delight us with their wide repertoire of both popular and classical music, all arranged to showcase the beautiful sounds of the flute and guitar.

On Sunday, May 4 at 3:00 p.m. La Primavera String Quartet, will close our season with a program of light classical music chosen and performed to please discriminating listeners...as well as people who think they hate classical music! The quartet consists of four professional string players with wide experience in orchestras and ensembles throughout southeastern Pennsylvania.
